2014 Edition CPGs
The 2014 Edition CPGs have been released on 31st July 2014 following a long process. A decision of the Medical Advisory Committee to reduce ‘clutter’ on the CPGs has resulted in a leaner version of several CPGs.  The information boxes removed from the CPGs have not been lost but are included in the field guide and field guide App.  This will assist practitioners with decision making in the field.

EMS Gathering 2014
The EMS Gathering took place on Wednesday 14th and Friday 15th May in Killarney, Co. Kerry and was a resounding success with over 350 delegates in attendance. The theme for the conference this year was Trauma, Education and Leadership which was the focus of the morning sessions featuring international speakers such as Professor Simon Carley (Central Manchester University Hospitals), Professor Steve Barnes (University of Missouri) and  Dr. Gareth Davies (London’s Air Ambulance).

Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band CD

“Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band and Friends – Monday Nights in Marino” raise €10,254 for Suicide or Survive.
Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band released their first CD after 27 years playing pipes and drums. The CD named ‘Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band and Friends’ ‘Monday Nights in Marino’ is the result of many long hours of hard work recording in Floodplain Studios, Clasac Centre, Alfie Byrne Rd in Clontarf, under the expertise of audio engineer & producer Graham Watson.

Launch of CPG Forum
CPR is delighted to announce the launch of our new Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) Forum. This is a platform for prehospital practitioners to provide feedback on current CPGs. CPR will then liaise with the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) of the Pre-hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) in order to identify areas of improvement within the current guidelines and to guide future CPG development.

New Council rules for Recognised Institutions

New Council Rules for Recognition of Institutions were approved by Council on the 10th July 2014. The new rules provide for more efficient governance of all PHECC recognised institutions.

Respond 2014 Conference Presentations
The first national conference dedicated to Community First Responders took place on March 1st. It showcased the best of responder activity in Ireland and provided evidence-based scientific updates in best practice in First Response.
