New Council Rules for Recognised Institutions

New Council Rules for Recognition of Institutions were approved by Council on the 10th July 2014.  The new rules provide for more efficient governance of all PHECC recognised institution.

Council Rules now include the following provisions:
  • A statutory declaration on application and renewal (every 3 years).
  • Additional policies e.g.: complaints and appeals & quality assurance.
  • A requirement for every institution to have internal QA systems in place including a named internal verifier to systematically organise and monitor the quality of courses and PHECC awards/certificates.
  • A ‘quality review framework’ incorporating site inspections by a Panel on behalf of Council.
  • Possibility of sanctions for non-compliance.
  • Publication of site inspection reports.

The new Council Rules will apply to every new applicant and existing recognised institution.  Criteria about specific PHECC approved courses such as faculty, duration can now be found in the respective Education and Training Standard and are known as ‘course approval criteria’. You are invited to view the website to view and download copies (PDF) of the education and training standards and new Council Rules.  The Teaching Faculty Framework is under review and will be considered by the education and standards committee and be made available later in autumn.  Planned site inspections are expected to commence in early 2015.
