NQEMT – Setting professional Standards

The function of the NQEMT examination is to establish and maintain a national professional standard in emergency medical technology. This is a benchmark process, which assesses the knowledge and skills for competent practice as professional Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Advanced Paramedic in Ireland. PHECC is empowered to award the NQEMT to successful candidates. Holders of the NQEMT may apply to PHECC for entry onto the PHECC register. This is the national professional register for pre-hospital practitioners. (see graphs on opposite page). Congratulations to all who were successful in the NQEMT during 2008.

High rates of approval for PHECC Patient Care Documentation

Some of the aspects participants were asked to comment on were: ease of completion, speed of completion, and benefits during the handover process. Private, voluntary, auxiliary and statutory services as well as training institutions took part in the survey.
