Question Approval Group update from the Registrar

I am very happy with the progress that this group has made to date. All NQEMT Examination material is now being reviewed and edited in an open and transparent peer review process by working Practitioners and representatives of the teaching.

This peer review process guarantees that all material is directly related to the 2007 Education and Training Standard or an appropriate CPG, more importantly we now have members of your profession setting the standard that must be reached in order to practice in your profession.

So far all the required MCQs and short answer questions from both EMT and Paramedic level have been reviewed and agreed. The Advanced Paramedic level review process is about to start.

I would like to thank the current Question Approval Group membership for their hard work and dedication to their profession for taking part in this process.

The IT department and the responsible project officer are investigating ways to use technology to assist the group work more effectively and efficiently.

I am currently reviewing membership of the group with a view to creating specific groups for each clinical level.

I would like to invite all recognised responders & practitioners to apply to PHECC for membership of their own clinical level review group.

Contribute to your profession

Examination material is generally more reliable when it is created by members of the profession that is being examined.

We are working towards building better national examinations and as a registered practitioner you can contribute to this process by submitting questions for inclusion in the NQEMT.

This option was created in the last year to enable you to develop a degree of ownership of the NQEMT.

Do you feel that you could write better quality items than the ones you answered in your NQEMT?

Then do something about it!

We want to recieve both MCQ and Short Answer questions at EMT, Paramedic and Advanced Paramedic level... all we ask is that your question is written to match a specific objective in the Education and Training Standard and that you reference your answer to an appropriate level textbook or the CPG’s.

Submitting questions is contributing to our industry. All questions received will be edited where necessary and presented to the question approval group for consideration and use in the NQEMT. Send your questions or request for further information on question writing to info@phecc.ie
