There have been substantial changes to EMS practice in Ireland over the past 10 years. These changes have been facilitated by professionals in the sector embracing and implementing change. As a professional development support initiative Council is to facilitate the circulation of the Journal of Paramedic Practice to all HSE ambulance bases and DFB fire stations.

The Journal of Paramedic Practice is a peer reviewed journal focused on the role of the paramedic. It is a relatively new publication concentrating on clinical practice, policy and professional issues, education and training, research and continuing professional development.

As it is a UK publication there will be different scope of practice issues, however, the subject matter covered is common to all jurisdictions. The challenges facing the paramedic profession are broadly the same in Ireland as in the UK.
Council believes that the complementary circulation of this publication to all the bases/stations will enrich the development of the EMS services in Ireland. Circulation will commence in July and continue for 12 months.
