Postgraduate Internship

There are currently 139 postgraduate Paramedic Interns working pre-hospital in the State. Advanced Paramedics, class 11, start in September will be the first group to complete the PHECC Register requirements of postgraduate internship.

The aim of the one year internship is to facilitate a period of adaptation where an Intern will consolidate their clinical knowledge and competence as a pre-hospital emergency care practitioner. During this period, an Intern is required to maintain a satisfactory learning portfolio and be successful in the 3 essential elements of the required competency assessment.

Interns are advised to seek direction in the first instance from their Recognised Institution regarding the PHECC requirements for the period. Successful Interns will be recommended by their Institution to have their names entered for full registration on the PHECC Register.
