CPR – A Life Saving Event

For those of you who attended PHECC’s CFR le Chéile conference in Athlone late last year you will no doubt recall the inspiring talk given by the 2008 Teacher of the Year Award winner, Rose Uí Shúilleabháin. Rose gave a very moving account of her first-hand experience of a sudden collapse involving a student at a cross-country event. Thanks to Rose’s quick-thinking and her CPR training she was able to administer CPR, ultimately saving the students life. As a mother, a teacher and a responder, Rose spoke from the heart in describing the emotional rollercoaster she experienced on that day.

Delegates’ reaction to Rose’s heart-felt description of the incident was overwhelming, so much so that we felt it was worthy of a much wider audience. To this end Rose kindly agreed to re-tell her story on camera and to have it made available on the web.

You can access Rose’s story, which is available in Irish and English, through either the news and events page or the publications page on the PHECC website www.phecc.ie
