Spatial Analysis

PHECC has commissioned the completion of a national spatial analysis report. This study will examine the geographical distribution of road traffic accidents in relation to ambulance service provision within specific health board areas and ambulance services. This analysis is based on and comparable to a similar study that was presented at the ISIC Conference in Galway this year. These reports will be published by PHECC and circulated to interested parties once they have been presented to Council.

NQEMT Examinations

The next NQEMT-EMT examination is scheduled for the week commencing 28th April 2003.

PHECC Strategy Document

Council recently approved a PHECC Strategy document. This Strategy indicates the direction that PHECC will follow over the next three years. Copies of the Strategy will be distributed in the near future and further information will be forthcoming in the next newsletter.

PHECC Research Initiatives

PHECC has established two research partnerships, one with the RCS and one with UCD. The RCSI/PHECC partnership concentrates on establishing the evidence base to support the development of Clinical Practice Guidelines. The UCD/PHECC partnership is focused on the evolving relationships between GP Co-operatives and Ambulances Services in and the associated implications in relation to the expansion of such services.

Diary Dates

AAP Conference

The annual conference of the AAP will be held on the weekend of 8th and 9th of March, 2003. The event is scheduled to take place in the South Court Hotel, Limerick City.

IAMBEX

IAMBEX event and exhibition will be held at the City West Hotel, Saggart, Co Dublin on 3rd and 4th April, 2003.
