Irish Society for Immediate Care

The Irish Society for Immediate Care was estab lished in 1999 to promote the development of Pre-Hospital Emergency Care in Ireland. Its current membership is approximately 120 members including Doctors, Nurses, EMT's and Health Services Management. It comprises a nine member executive committee.


A major objective of the society is to foster audit and research in Immediate Care. The society holds a biennial conference with international and national speakers on cur rent areas of research and areas of interest. The conference provides a forum for a multi disciplinary group to discllss and explore areas of common interest and to advance areas of development in the area of emergency care. A further conference will be held in the Connemara Coast Hotel, Galway on the 10th and 11th June 2004.

A further role for the society is liaison with other relevant organisations both nationally and internationa lly. The society produces a regular Newsletter on current areas of research and to update members on the activities of the society.
