Irish Red Cross Launch Free First Aid App
To celebrate Irish Red Cross First Aid Day, Friday 20th September, the charity launched a First Aid App, free to download from the Apple App and Google Play Stores for Smartphones and Tablets.
The First Aid App features easy to follow tips for more than 20 common first aid scenarios including how to treat burns, breaks, strains and sprains and what to do if an infant is choking. It also features advice on how to prepare for emergency situations including floods, fires and water safety.
Danny Curran, First Aid Training Manager with the Irish Red Cross says, “The aim of the First Aid App is to help people learn how to treat basic injuries and how to respond during an emergency. Giving them the confidence to take action and help others during a crisis.”
“Red Cross studies show that most accidents requiring first-aid, such as falls, cuts, burns and suffocation, happen in places where people feel secure – especially the home. Having the First Aid App on their phone means people can instantly access the information they need to react correctly.”
Irish Red Cross First Aid Day is an annual event aiming to increase awareness in Ireland of the importance of first aid training for everyone.
