What is PHECCs role?

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) regulates the emergency medical service (EMS) profession in Ireland. Our role is to protect the public. PHECC is an independent statutory agency with responsibility for standards, education and training in the field of pre-hospital emergency care. PHECC also maintain a statutory register of EMS practitioners.

We register qualified practitioners who meet our standards for their training, professional skills and education. We can take action against health professionals who fall below these standards. We can also prosecute those who pretend to be registered.

Health professionals must be registered so you can be sure:
  • they are genuine
  • they meet national standards
  • you are protected

What does this mean for me?

This means that health professionals registered with us are genuine and meet national standards. This offers you protection if professionals fail to meet these standards. You can also check with us that a health professional is registered.
