Applications from overseas for establishment
The first step to establishment for persons with overseas professional qualifications is to successfully complete the recognition of equivalence process, irrespective of nationality. Click the following links to download or view the application form and guidelines.
The application fee is €230 and covers any required assessment and and registration (for 3 years).
Applications for recognition are examined on a case-by-case basis and there is no provision to recognise an applicant’s professional qualification automatically. The adequacy of an applicant’s professional education and training, including duration and content, received overseas is evaluated and compared to the appropriate Education and Training Standard; Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic or Advanced Paramedic. Scope of an applicant’s practice is also evaluated, acknowledging the variance in emergency medical systems and use of title EMT and Paramedic across Europe and worldwide.
Applications from overseas for temporary registration
If you are established elsewhere in the European Union & EEA you may apply for temporary registration to provide services in Ireland on a temporary and occasional basis. Established in this context means permitted to pursue the same profession. Click the following links to download or view the application form and guidelines for temporary registration.
