New documents to apply for recognition to implement Clinical Practice Guidelines
Within its statutory remit:
- PHECC prepares Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) for pre-hospital emergency care and makes them available to pre-hospital emergency care service providers and other persons considered appropriate.
- PHECC recognises, in accordance with rules made by the Council, those pre-hospital emergency care service providers which undertake to implement the clinical practice guidelines.
- Organisations who are recognised by PHECC to implement clinical practice guidelines are known as licensed CPG providers and are currently subject to an annual licence renewal cycle.
Governance Validation Framework (GVF)
The PHECC developed the Governance Validation Framework (GVF) developed over a two-year period to further enhance patient safety, improve the quality of service provision, support quality improvement within PHECC licensed CPG providers and provide PHECC Council with assurance that its licensed CPG providers are operating in-line with PHECC rules and requirements for their recognition. The framework will utilise self-assessment by the licensed CPG provider, followed by review and a transparent external assessment process.
New Form and Policy
The development of the GVF and its approval in 2017 led to a subsequent project which reviewed and restructured the processes to become a Licensed CPG Providers. PHECC have now replaced the Application Form for pre-hospital emergency care service providers who apply for recognition to implement Clinical Practice Guidelines and also have updated the associated Policy document and are now entering into a transition phase with our existing Licensed CPG Providers regarding the renewal process.

Continue to apply for renewals using the standard renewal form and under the terms of POL003 V5.
