Professional Commitment/Undertaking

Applicants must make a formal self-declaration that they:

  • Are currently practising, or have recently practised, as a pre-hospital emergency care practitioner and give evidence to support this.
  • In the initial implementation of the Register, employment by the statutory ambulance services will be accepted as evidence of current or recent practice.
  • Are current in their cardiac certification and training in the use of Clinical Practice Guidelines.
  • Have no relevant criminal conviction (any offence which would preclude an individual securing employment within the health sector).
  • Have no known health condition or addiction that could affect their fitness to practise.


Applicants shall make a formal commitment to comply with the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and specific undertakings to:

  • Complete Patient Care Reports.
  • Practise only in accordance with their status on the PHECC register.
  • Comply with Continuing Professional Development requirements as approved by Council (on the recommendation of the Medical Advisory Group and the Clinical Care Committee).
  • Cooperate with inquiries by the Fitness to Practice Committee and its two Subcommittees.
  • Mentor or coach trainees or colleagues.
