Education and Training Standards 2007

PHECC is the national body with responsibility for standards, education and training in the field of pre-hospital emergency care in Ireland. Council sets the education standards and conducts the examinations leading to the National Qualification in Emergency Technology (NQEMT).  In April 2007, new
Education and Training Standards were published by PHECC replacing the NAAC 1995 Standards.

In July 2008, PHECC commenced the development of the next edition of the Education and Training Standards incorporating an educational syllabus/ curriculum for the following levels of training: Cardiac First Response, Emergency First Response, EMS- Control, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Advanced Paramedic and Medical Practitioner (under consideration).

One of Council's functions according to the Establishment Order and Strategic Plan 2006-2009 is that PHECC implements a rigorous accreditation process for the recognition of Institutions.
