Application to Join the PHECC Register – Initial Process
The PHECC Register is a statutory register for pre-hospital emergency care practitioners in Ireland. It is the sixth statutory healthcare register in the State and the authority to establish this Register comes from SI 575/2004.
The establishment of this Register is the product of a detailed and extensive national consultation exercise combined with newsletter and poster promotions. Council has emphasised that there is a place on the Register for all existing pre-hospital emergency care practitioners employed in the statutory ambulance services.
Joining the Register - five steps
1. Academically Qualified
Before individuals can apply for registration they must be academically qualified to join the Register (individuals must be holders of an NQEMT Qualification).
2. Administrative Process
Applicants must complete application documentation in full.
3. Registration Fee
All applicants must pay the appropriate registration fee as approved by Council in order for their application to be processed.
4. Declaration
Applicants must make a formal self-declaration, this declaration is included as part of the application form.
5. Formal Professional Commitment/Undertaking
Applicants must sign up/commit to a code of Professional Conduct and Ethics
This preliminary implementation of this initiative concentrates on registration of practitioners employed in the statutory ambulance services. The next phase of this registration initiative will see membership being to all eligible practitioners in the private, voluntary and auxiliary services.
A letter of invitation and a dual application form which combines an application process for both an NQEMT Certificate as well as joining the PHECC Register in addition to the associated declarations and relevant commitments are being posted to all employees in the statutory ambulance services.
Completed application forms along with the €30 registration fee (by Cheque or Postal Order only) should be returned to:- The Registrar at PHECC.
This application process is currently being developed to allow registration on-line.
Fraudulent Applications
If an application is found to be fraudulent it will preclude the applicant from ever being awarded the NQEMT or joining the PHECC Register.
